Raise a juice or smoothie to celebrate the fourth year of Jamba Juice Garden Grants. National Gardening Association and Jamba Juice are proud to present The Spring 2014 “It’s All About the Fruit and Veggies” Garden Grant! 20 awards are now available to schools, community organizations, and nonprofits. One (1) Grand Prize Winner will be awarded with a $1,500 award package and 19 programs will receive $500 award packages!

The Spring 2014 Jamba Juice “It’s About the Fruit and Veggies” Garden Grantprovides youth garden programs with gardening supplies, curriculum, and funding for soil amendments and plants to help create engaging nutrition and gardening experiences. Observing and exploring fruit and vegetable production gives a deeper understanding and appreciation for these essential foods in our diet. Recipients will be selected based on plans to promote nutrition education, ideas for incorporating fruit and vegetable activities into the curriculum, and ability to sustain the program over multiple years.

Through the Sip to Support a Garden™ Program, schools and community gardens can earn credits that can be applied against the purchase of essential gardening equipment suitable for any age from the National Gardening Association’sGardening with Kids catalog. Participation is easy: Sign up your school garden or organization online; Your organization will receive a Jamba Kit that includes Sip to Support a Garden™ swipe cards for supporters, program details and other information; Start swiping — each time a supporter uses the swipe card for purchases at participating Jamba Juice locations, Jamba will donate 10% of the purchase to the NGA to put in your own account.  Use accumulated funds for the purchase of garden equipment for your garden group or program. You can also contact your local Jamba Juice store to inquire about additional ways to earn funds for your gardening program.


WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY

The Spring 2014 Jamba Juice “All About the Fruit and Veggies” Garden Grantprogram is open to schools, community organizations, and non-profit programs in the United States gardening with at least 15 children between the ages of 3 and 18. Preference will be given to schools located within a 50 mile radius of a Jamba Juice store. Visit theJamba Juice websiteto find out if there is a Jamba Juice near you.


GRANT PACKAGES

The 2014 Spring Jamba Juice “It’s About the Fruit and Veggies” Garden Grantwill offer 20 awards.  One (1) Grand Prize winner will receive a $1,500 package and 19 programs will be selected to win a $500 award package.

The Grand Prize winner may be asked to host a gardening event. The youth garden program will know in advance and must be able to provide parental release forms.


SUBMISSION PROCESS

Due Date: Applications must be submitted by March 10th, 2014.

You can apply by submitting an application through email.The Spring 2014 Jamba Juice "It's All About the Fruit and Veggies" Garden Grant Application is available in the following formats:

To apply for a garden grant online log into Kidsgardening.org and follow these steps:

  1. Log into your KidsGardening.org user account.
  2. Click “Apply Now” (the big blue button on this page!)
  3. Fill out the application
  4. SUBMIT the application.

Note: Applications that are not submitted will not be considered for the award, look for an email confirmation that your application has been submitted.

WHAT CAN EXPECT FROM THE APPLICATION

We need to know about your garden program, examples of the type of information we need from you is below:

  • Program Contact information
  • Program numbers (estimated number of participants by age, poverty and free and reduced lunch rates)
  • Goals, information on how the program is sustained, and program overview (for both start-up programs and established)
  • Photos and letters of support are optional

AWARD FULFILLMENT

We will notify you about the status of your application by April 22, 2014. Awards will be distributed in April of 2013.


REPORTING REQUIREMENTS

Grant awardees will be required to submit an impact report. These reports help NGA determine the overall impact of the grant program, and assist us in gathering ongoing support. Recipients that do not complete the final report will not be eligible to apply for future awards. Program winners are required to pass along the following:

  • A minimum of 5 digital photos. Photos will be requested at the time the award is given and at the end of the gardening season.
  • Note: Parental photo permission forms will be required for all youth pictured. Parental release forms from organizations and school programs may be sent in as long as the form is inclusive to outside agents.
  • One survey must be completed after the summer of 2014. This post-gardening survey helps us to provide accountability to our sponsor. Award winners will receive instructions in September of 2014.

No purchase necessary. Purchase of a product does not improve your chances of receiving an award.

*Every effort will be made to award the prize package as described above, however in the unlikely event any item in the prize package becomes unavailable due to conditions beyond our control, we reserve the right to substitute an item of equal or greater value.
