Eating healthy and staying active is important for every growing child, that’s why Voots® kids supplements and Kidsgardening.org, a resource of the National Gardening Association, have teamed up to empower children and their families to lead healthier lives and build stronger communities through gardening! Children who grow their own fruits and vegetables are more likely to eat and enjoy their harvest. Through edible gardens, children develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for these essential foods in our diet.

Voots® Veggie-Fruit Tarts and Kidsgardening.org are proud to present the Voots® "Get Kids Growing" Garden Grants, providing 20 youth garden programs with the necessary supplies and support to grow edible gardens. 20 schools will be selected based on plans to promote nutrition education, ideas for incorporating fruit and vegetable activities into the curriculum, and ability to sustain the program over multiple years.

Who is Eligible to Apply

The Voots® "Get Kids Growing" Garden Grants program is open to schools in the United States who intend to garden with at least 15 children between the ages of 3 and 12.

Grant Packages

Voots® Veggie-Fruit Tarts will award 20 grant recipients with $700* in gardening supplies including a raised bed, tools, and a curriculum guide from the Gardening with Kids Shop, and a check for $50 to be used to purchase soil amendments and fruit and vegetable plantings. The total award package is valued at over $750.

Additionally, one recipient will be awarded a grand prize based on their submission, receiving an additional $1,250 in gardening supplies.

Submission Process

Due Date: Applications must be submitted by April 1st, 2013. All applications must be submitted electronically.

  2. Can’t find your school? Create a Garden Registry profile.
  3. Prepare to provide basic information about your school and two to three photos in jpeg format. Click “Apply Now” and submit an application.

Award Fulfillment

We will notify you about the status of your application by May 1st, 2013. Awards will be distributed in May of 2013.

Reporting Requirement

Grant awardees will be required to submit an impact report. These reports help NGA determine the overall impact of the grant program, and assist us in gathering ongoing support. Recipients that do not complete the final report will not be eligible to apply for future awards. Program winners are required to pass along the following:

  • A minimum of 5 digital photos. Photos will be requested at the time the award is given and at the end of the gardening season.
Note: Parental photo permission forms will be required for all youth pictured. Parental release forms from organizations and school programs may be sent in as long as the form is inclusive to outside agents.
  • One survey must be completed after the summer of 2013. This post-gardening survey helps us to provide accountability to our sponsor. Award winners will receive instructions in September of 2013.

No purchase necessary. Purchase of a product does not improve your chances of receiving an award.

*Every effort will be made to award the prize package as described above, however in the unlikely event any item in the prize package becomes unavailable due to conditions beyond our control, we reserve the right to substitute an item of equal or greater value.
